With the exams lately, I've noticed mine, and everyone's need for priorities.
Priorities help us order our lives and complete the most important tasks first, while the less important tasks have to wait.
In regards to exams, I think priorities are necessary.
However, in regard to people, should we priorities the people in our life or should we even be bothered by where we stand or sit on other people's priority-list.
This brings into consideration - competition.
We love being first.
This is evident in our love for sporting events such as running and swimming.
In the past running fast may have improved our survival chances, but now, running fast is not quite related to Darwin's Survival of the Fittest theory.
Although we still insist on hosting events awarding individuals that can run, swim, cycle, drive and any other mode of transport - the fastest.
In life, competition is always present, even in relationships.
Often each member of the relationship insists on being the most important person/aspect in the other person's life.
Is this really necessary?
It must be programmed into us that we need to be Number 1 and be the first priority and to continue pushing until we are.
Being the most important person/aspect in someone else's life must do wonders to one's ego though.
Perhaps those with a lack of self-worth, strive to assert this worth, not in accordance to themselves, but in accordance to others.
eg. "I'm worth more if people think I'm worth more."
"I'm important if people think I am"
I think this is ridiculous.
You're worth what you think you're worth.
Don't be caught up in whether you're number 1 in a person's life or whereabouts you sit on their priority list.
1. Think you're awesome.
2. Know you're awesome.
3. Be awesome.
4. People will think you're awesome.
As I said a while ago - self-confidence and being comfortable with yourself is attractive.
Also, just realized, this sounds a little like a self-help entry.
Oops.
They're just my innane ramblings on things that have been on my mind lately.
Focus less on being important in someone else's life.
Focus more on being important in your own life and enjoy life.
Hope you've enjoyed my ramblings.
Signing off, Generally Jen.
