Generation Y and our Narcissism

Question: Am I starting a trend with updating this blog whenever I find mysef under pressure with upcoming deadlines from Exams and Assignments?

I seem to have a bad habit of procrastinating. Maybe I should do something about it. Or maybe I'll just do that some other time...

Blog updates are sporadic - Twitter is a much easier method of venting.
140 characters or less of random thoughts.

Onto my topic of today's post.

Generation Y and our Narcissism.

As a member of Generation Y, I've noticed our unabashed nature of letting people know certain aspects of our life.
For example, Facebook and its status updates.

Eg. Individual - Am currently waiting in line at XX!

Yes. I do care that you're waiting in line at XX.

I care even more that -
Eg. Individual - Am STILL waiting in line at XX!

Our presumptions that people care about what we think/do/eat/drink is also amusing.
For example, Twitter and its micro-blogging updates.

Eg. Individual - Am eating cheezels ! Nomnomnom.

Yes. I care that you are eating cheezels. I care muchly.
Sarcasm is intended. Though I suppose sarcasm doesn't come across quite as well in text.
And there's not quite the same effect if a "*cue sarcasm" is used.

However, I do suppose I should acknowledge that I myself am a member of this unashamed population -

Yes! I eat cheezels and I like them. and I do wait in lines.
But, I do try to make my Twitter posts a little less meaningless than quick updates of my adoration of Cheezels.

So yes, it amuses me that I think that people care about my vents-of-the-day.
Or how members of this Generation Y are so narcissistic in that we believe the faceless individuals of the internet read these oh,so,meaningful blogs.

I do think that there are a lot more social networks or methods in which people use to advertise their lives and the awesome-ness or lack of awesome-ness in their lives.
Not enough time to research though, I think I'll stick to Twitter, Facebook and this little blog.

A Jennifun fact for you: I think I could have been a better Dark Lord than Lord Voldemort. How hard could it have been, killing off Harry Potter.
He's particularly susceptible to Wizard Angst.

Humanity and Hypocrisy.

I think it's in human nature to be hypocritical.

People who hate hypocrisy tend to annoy me, in that hypocrisy is unavoiadable.
I have accepted that hypocrisy occurs everywhere and double-standards are given to everyone.

Example:
I love people who dress a little differently. But then, it annoys me when people dress the same.
I support the people who have a unique style as I admire their self confidence they possess to dress they want to dress.
Why can't I not be bothered by the attire of others.
I should let the followers of the plebian-style-of-the-season dress the way they want to dress and not pass judgement.

I am hypocritical and I'm ok with it.

Example 2:

I don't like when people judge. But again, judging people is part of human nature.
I myself, judge people who pair fluffy pink ugg-boots with denim minis and shiny Adidas jackets.
Should I think that my style of fashion is superior or is fashion simply a matter of taste?

Do I apologize for being judgemental? Or remain stern in my belief that I would prefer my eyes not to be raped by the afore-mentioned style of dress.

That was my vent for the day.
Social commentary and judgement at its worst.

Dipping into the Big WideWebisphere

As a keen follower on all things worth procrastinating, I have decided a blog may be worthwhile as an instrument to vent my crazy inane musings.

It seems to be Introduction time.

My name is Jen. I am Asian-Australian. I go to UWA.
I dream big and would love the world to be my oyster.

And here are some Jennifun-facts.
1. I love life.
2. I have a soft spot for unique-ness and asymmetry.
3. If I could memorize any book it would be the dictionary.
4. Fashion are my dreams encapsulated in reality.

I think confidence is magnetic so be yourself, be proud and let people flock to your awesome-ness.
Life is always worth living.
